A Fresh Sign of Spring

Fresh?

These photo challenges are becoming easier than taking candy from a baby, which I do at every opportunity. Unfortunately, none of the mothers I know give candy to their babies, which is probably a good thing for the babies, but not so good for a candy-starved adult.

But we digress. Back to fresh, the topic of the WordPress weekly photo challenge. On a rainy day like today in Austin, Texas—where thousands of South by Southwest attendees are (hopefully) so discouraged by the downpour they’ll change their minds about moving here—it is hard to imagine that spring is here. But it is, and yesterday, the evidence appeared in my own front yard, where our spectacular Spanish dagger yucca [Yucca treculeana] threw out not just one, but two, fresh spring blooms this spring. ♣

Yes, this photograph was made with my beloved iPhone 5s with a few mere editing tweaks in Adobe Lightroom. If you’d like to see more iPhoneography, go HERE. Prefer to see more of Austin, Texas? HERE you go, y’all.

  1. Gorgeous photo, Jann. I’ve always wondered whether it really is easy to take candy from a baby, a baby who will want to keep it, might stuff the candy in his/her mouth, will have sticky hands as well as sticky candy…well, you get the idea. 🙂
