A Closed Door Is An Invitation

“You never know what doors are going to open up and why they are going to open up. You’ve got to be ready to walk through them.”

—Lester Holt

“When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”

—Helen Keller

A closed door is an invitation to me, because I cannot pass it by without taking aim and photographing it. Can you? These doors come from journeys I’ve made in Mexico—in Chihuahua and the Yucatan—and in the Rio Grande Valley of Texas, where closed meant a photo opportunity, and not a dead end. It’s a good way to approach life, too, I’ve found.
