When All of the Stars Align

One of the biggest thrills for a photographer of cityscapes like mine (in Austin, Texas) is framing an image where the most powerful sight lines converge to highlight the story behind the picture. My shorthand lingo for this phenomenon is when all of the stars align. (The trifecta version of this is when the moon, sun and stars align—admittedly, that’s a rarity. But you get the idea.)

Since the intent behind my Vanishing Austin series is to contrast the old with the new, finding that shot where all of the stars align is mission one. Here are a few of the images from the 100+ in the Austin collection that show off just what I mean.
