Why I Can’t Resist a Window

I can’t resist a window. When I travel, I collect images of windows, and their siblings, doors, the way dogs collect fleas: always and everywhere. In New Mexico and Mexico, there are no shortage of windows and doors to photograph, from grand to unsavory, and never without color, texture, vitality. They offer not just beauty but symbolism, with many interpretations—barriers, or portals? Possibilities or impediments? Beginnings or endings? For me, imagining what might lie behind them is enough to stoke my creative fantasies. ORDER A PRINT.

“Our senses are indeed our doors and windows on this world, in a very real sense the key to the unlocking of meaning and the wellspring of creativity.”

JEAN HOUSTON

  1. Amazing interpretation of windows, Jann. Loved the expression “For me, imagining what might lie behind them is enough to stoke my creative fantasies (your words)”. The clicks are also lovely. 🙂

  2. These are so beautiful. I love the architecture of the Southwest. Were any of these in Taos? Santa Fe?
I too love finding the hidden gems while post-processing!
